Stephen Burr is the Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Kentucky and UK HealthCare. He has worked at UK for over twenty years, serving in information technology leadership roles focused on cybersecurity, operations, and analytics. In his current role, he is responsible for leading enterprise cybersecurity efforts to defend the University against threats and protect the privacy of institutional data. Stephen holds an undergraduate degree from Pace University in Information Systems, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kentucky, and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)2.
Michael Gioia is an information security leader with over 20 years of experience delivering security solutions across several industries. He has performed most of his information security work within higher education, currently as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Babson College and formerly as the Information Security Officer (ISO) at Eastern Illinois University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and Bentley University. He is a published author of the book Security Risk Management – The Driving Force of Operational Resilience: The Firefighting Paradox. He retains various professional certifications that include a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE) from ISACA, and a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) from ISC2.
